One of the perks of working at BARK is getting to hang out with the dogs every day. Coworkers hang around the office with their dogs, often in stylish carriers or even other items. As a human to the big dog* (BAD), I wish my morning routine consisted of telling a lady to jump in
royal palanquin A bag so I can sling it over my shoulder and bring it on my commute to work. Unfortunately, she must have 75 lbs. Royal Highness stay home every day while I come home to the proverbial bacon.
driven by my country
Jealous Curious, my colleagues have asked what makes a good carrier for small to medium sized dogs. Here are their recommendations, in no particular order.
Wheel Around Pet Travel Carrier by Snoozer Better for little germs and humans
First of all, in my next life, I want to be a dog who gets to ride in one of these. There are tons of mesh throughout for maximum visibility and airflow (you don’t want pups to overheat), and the carrier can be rolled up or used as a backpack. The pockets on either side of it are great for a treat or leash, and your pup can be attached to the carrier via the seat belt. My favorite feature is that it’s completely collapsible, so it won’t take up any extra space in your home when not in use.

Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed Best for road tripping families
The folks at Sleepypod have managed to create stylish carriers that double as a bed and car seat, all without sacrificing your pup’s comfort. This carrycot has been tested to the standard set of child safety restrictions to give puppy parents peace of mind. Oh, and if your dog is feeling a little anxious about traveling, this carrier can be used as a bed at home so your little friend can have a piece of home wherever they go.

WOpet fashion pet carrier Best for contemporary
So it looks like this bag is made to carry your dog (or cat but that’s not why we’re here), but in fact it looks like a regular stylish black bag, which is great if you’re not about to sacrifice style just because your dog is along all day. Maybe I’ll just buy this to use as a regular purse, and maybe occasionally as a dog purse. And I totally wouldn’t recommend you smuggle your dog into places they aren’t allowed, but the sides are covered in breathable mesh that allows your dog to look out for himself while remaining invisible to people outside, so there you have it.
the details: not real leather For dogs (and other pets, but again, we’re here for dogs only) up to 14 lbs. breathable mesh

Outbound Hound PoochPouch Front Carrier Best for young puppies and humans
Sometimes, you need to go long distances but your little fledgling pups can’t keep up, or the terrain isn’t the safest for your pups. This carrier is the answer to your dogs needs: affordable, easy to use, and convenient. You can wear this carrier as a backpack or slide it forward so you can pretend to be a kangaroo. Even better, at the low price of $18, it can be a good backup to whatever travel system you have at the moment, because when it comes to keeping dogs happy, options are everything. 🙌

Texsens bubble backpack Best for space nerds
If you like to pretend your dog is a furry astronaut, this is the bag of your dreams. It’s made of faux leather and has a removable pad that you can check in the washing machine to keep it fresh. What I love best about this is that the window allows the pup’s parents to see the sights without the risk of jumping up every time they see a squirrel or dove.

Alphie Pet Reversible Sling Carrier Best for little ones on a budget
This reversible seat lets you hang your dog in their own personal hammock while you’re out and about. The sling itself is reversible, featuring a polka-dot pattern on the inside. This would be a great carrier for an older dog who may appreciate the ease of entry in a sling, ideal for people who take their dog to work with them and need to navigate public transportation. Oh, and the best part? It’s machine washable!
the details: Did I mention it is machine washable? Measures 9″ deep, best for gamers under 12 pounds Attach a safety collar which frankly at this point seems pretty standard
