It’s 2016, and emoji have replaced words.
Well, words may still be used for important things like resumes and shopping tags, but the emoji rank has crept into all parts of our lives, whether we’re ready for it or not. Even my mother, who is an elementary literacy teacher who will completely correct grammar and spelling without wanting to ask for it, will often respond to my “Mommy I miss you” Whatsapp message with a teeny tiny emoji. 😐
Here are 12 dog play emoji puppies and humans alike will enjoy having around the house.
1. Heart-Eye Emoji Toy Dog, $9-10
You know that feeling when you get home after a day, and your pup starts emptying the driveway expressing how much you missed him? Plush Eye Heart is the dog toy that draws to your face when you see your dog after a day of dealing with the rest of the world. It even has a great sharp inside in case you want to communicate “I frickin’ love you” to your dog in squeaky Morse.
2. Plush pizza, $8-12
I’d like to have a pizza date with my dog on a Friday night, but I don’t enjoy munching on muzzle rockets, so all I have is plush pizza instead. You can have one slice or all eight to create a pie if you’re munching on dough like that. If a hungry dog hippo bell could use one emoji, it would be the pizza emoji for sure.
3. Brownie Game Happy Boo Dog, $12
Ah, emoji. A symbol understood all over the world. 2 on your pup’s list of most used emojis if he has a phone. If your dog is keen on passing some cat scraps out of the litter box or even indulging in his own waste from time to time, you’ll be squeezing LOL hard every time you catch your dog thrilled at this huge pile of 2. Unlike the real thing, this toy The cellophane filler is safe to hold and will delight your guinea pig with its subtle shriek.
4. Eggplant, $9
If you’re the type of dog who forces your love on all dogs all the time (shout out to my fellow canines), Squeaky Heart lets you dish even more with a crushing ruff in squeaky plush form. And yes, the dog totally knows that you love him. ♥
6. Hashtag, $12-20
If your pooch runs his own social media accounts, his favorite hashtags will probably look like this:
#EndBreedism (or #YesAllDogs)
But since paws and touch screens don’t mix, this Hashtag Dog Game gives your dog the power to make a statement in fewer than 140 characters. And they come in three sizes, so all dogs, big and small, can cuddle and take selfies with them.
7. Pineapple, $10
Can someone tell me what the pineapple emoji is supposed to represent? Because in addition to Spongebob Squarepants lyrics and weed references, this delicious fruit only makes its way into my texts when I’m talking about going on a tropical vacation or having a piña colada. Either way, this filler-free squeaker is sturdy and will delight any popper.
8. Pan-demonium Plushie, $10
This bacon and eggs on the skillet combines the best things you could give the BAE (bacon and eggs) of your life. Inspired by the fried egg emoji, the bottom of this “cast iron” skillet is hooked in the shape of an entire disc designed to give your dog the happiness a plate of actual breakfast would give you.
9. Aweigh Anchors Rubber Dog Toy, $15
What’s a better toy for gifting the pup who always carries you than a token of resilience? This rubber toy is sleek, tough, and tough enough to hold up the jaws of your hero. ⚓
10. Watermelon, $8
Watermelon has gone from being nature’s candy to being an emoji you’d send to someone who’s thirsty. And let’s not get into how Beyoncé’s watermelon changed us all with a reference to the deliciously tangy fruit in her 2013 anthem “Drunk N Love.” Now you can have it in dog form with this sharp slice that your pup can dig into without worrying about swallowing the seeds.
11. Pawkeeporn, $10
You know that feeling when FB comments get ugly and you’re sitting there thinking, “Oh damn, I should have popped some popcorn for this showdown”? The popcorn emoji is perfect for when you’re suddenly faced with some online drama, and this fancy version looks exactly the same. The best part? No tacky messes.
12. The Emoji Toy, $30-36
Texting is hard for dogs, but making them happy doesn’t have to be. The Emoji Toy Bundle combines our emoji fao game into a great starter pack bundle for your dog collection. You won’t need 140 characters to tell your sweetheart that you love him when he gets his paws on this emoji.
