This elaborate news comes from Hamilton, a city of nearly half a million Canadians roughly 40 miles southwest of Toronto.
Described as “carrying the excess fat from a long winter hibernation”, the stumbling creature was found sandwiched between two bars in an iron enclosure.

Once the beaver, a symbol of the nation’s strong spirit holding him back, slipped out of the metal handcuffs holding him.
The creature was later transferred to the Hamilton Animal Services shelter, where it was famous for its buffet of fresh vegetables.

As a gesture of his gratitude, the hardworking animal paid his debts forward by “building a log kennel for the resident litters and a new sturdy scratching post for the cats.” (If this news story is hot-in-the-cheek of town to be believed.)
